Today is Yom HaZikaron, Israeli Fallen Soldiers and Victims of Terrorism Remembrance Day. On the preceding evening a siren is heard throughout the country, as everyone unites in a minute of silence, contemplating the sacrifice of those who lost their lives so that Israel could live on. An additional siren is sounded on the morning of Yom HaZikaron in which we come together to remember the fallen.
Tonight at sundown Yom HaZikaron will come to a close, and Yom HaAtzmaut, Israeli Independence Day, will begin. This powerful transition allows the people of Israel, and Jews around the world, to unite and feel connected to our homeland as we celebrate our independence and remember the heavy price we’ve paid.
