R. Jeffrey Saks interviews Prof. William Kolbrener about his new book “The Last Rabbi: Joseph Soloveitchik and Talmudic Tradition” (Indiana U. Press).


The book takes on Rabbi Soloveitchik’s legacy and shows how he was torn between the traditionalist demands of his European ancestors and the trajectory of his own radical and often pluralist philosophy; a new portrait of the self-professed “lonely man of faith.”
